Hey guys, my name is Roy Grubb and I race TLR 8ight nitro and electric 2.0/3.0 buggy. I've been racing competitively for just a few years now, but with the help of some area pro drivers and an awesome local track we're quickly making our way up the ladder. I'll be posting race reports throughout the year along with answering any questions that anyone may have. If I'm not at the track or work I'm probably on VRC so feel free to look for me on there under same name so we can run some laps together.

Just catching up some quick race reports here.. April 12-14th Flowood, MS Jamie Rogers Memorial Race - 5th in open nitro buggy A Main and 4th in open electric buggy A Main. My Picco Boost 5TR was hooking up all weekend. I just need to push into the corners a little faster while maintaining my consistency. In the nitro buggy I had a 91.81% consistency rating so not too bad there.
May 2-4 Pearcy, AR May Madness @ Wolfpack - Friday practice went really well. The track was loose and dusty but my buggies were both hooking up really well with super soft VP Pro Strikers. Nitro open qualifiers I ran a 3rd, 2nd and 2nd. During the 3rd qual I noticed my engine sounding different towards the end of the race to later find that my high speed needle encasement had come loose leaking fuel and running my engine lean. I replaced washers and fuel nipple to stop the leak but later in the main found out it was too late. My engine flamed on me three times forcing me to pull out of the race "true frustration but it happens". Electric was a nightmare the entire weekend. I'm in the process of changing speed control and Futaba receiver before next race since one of the two are glitching.
Next race is I20 points series in Shreveport, LA May 10-11

I decided to stay Castle Mamba since that's what I'm used to and my last Castle lasted a long time. If I have issues with this one I'm sure I'll give Tekin a try like most everyone else I race with With proper ESC setup Castle is pretty good still, or at least it seems OK to me. I haven't ran Tekin yet but I hear the power band is super smooth.

Don't the Castle Mamba combos have a tendency to burnout, When you over use them?
I'm not going to say that I haven't heard that before, but I've been running a 2200kv with 4c's on the hottest day of the summer without anything turned down and haven't personally had that issue so I think some of those reports are flawed depending on what the person is doing and how constant they're running hot.

You can burnout any engine by overheating an engine.
Sorry for the late post guys. May 17th we were in Monroe Louisiana for the 1st I20 series race. Quals were good for me first round as I finished top 3 in my heat in both pro electric and nitro buggy. 2nd round proved to be great again in electric but I lost tune in nitro and pulled off the track early. After verifying no apparent problems I took my engine apart and could see that there was early wear in my connecting rod "fuel nipple came loose, leaked and ran extra lean at Wolfpack two weekends before". I actually had one on me and got it replaced by third qualifier. I started 7th in the nitro buggy A and 6 in electric A main finishing 5th in pro nitro buggy and 4th pro electric buggy.
Our next event is on the 14th in Shreveport Louisiana for 2nd round of the I20 series.
