I thought you guys might enjoy this. A project I did about a year ago, using a Ross Remote Start module, a 5 channel RX and TX, and lipo on my T-maxx. It was a proof of concept project and it worked like a champ. These 5 channel controllers are almost impossible to find now. The crawler guys love them to use for winches, lights etc.

Anything that has an onboard starter system.The lipo replaces the onboard receiver battery as well. So there is just the 2200mah lipo powering it all. All you need is a spare open channel, the Ross Module, and a small lipo. None of that strapping a Nihm to the car and a servo to hit a switch. This setup is all electronic.

I have some, let me label them today, showing the wiring and the components and I'll post them. When I first started this, I was making it harder than necessary. It ended up being deceptively easy. Plus the way I did it, left the original wiring intact, where a Traxxas start wand could still be used. It's basically based off the Losi Ross Remote Start system. But with one or two improvements, such as using a lipo, for starting and receiver power. As far as I can find, I'm the only one that has done it this way. RC Sparks did one something like this, but they removed the info from the internet, maybe in hopes of patenting it. Yeah, some people are that way.
I know if I ever get another T-Maxx or self starting nitro, I will do the same thing again. It's so cool to not have to lug a start wand around.
Ok here you guys go. I originally used a Traxxas 2218X receiver, 5 channels, and a Traxxas 5 channels TX. I haven''t tested, but I suspect any 3 channel TX/ Rx will work the same. I left all the other servo connections in the appropriate spots, Channel 1 steering, Channel 2 throttle/ brake, But I used channel 4 as the remote start. I removed the original Nihm receiver battery to kill power to the receiver and using the Ross Module and lipo, powered the 2218X receiver by back feeding the receiver from channel 4. The main thing is mod the TX on whichever channel you choose, to a momentary push button. Easy to do, by adding any mini push button and pigtail pair of wires tied into the appropriate channel wires inside the controller and a hole drilled in the controller to mount the push button.
The Ross Start wires can be connected to the factory Traxxas start wires by scotch locks. These allow a second wire to be tapped into another with a squeeze connector. Then the original start wand connector can be left mounted on the rear shock tower. The Ross wiring pretty much matches color for color to the Traxxas wiring.

As long as it has an onboard electric starter it should. I thought about putting the T-Maxx on Ebay, but I ended up selling locally. At one time another company had a T-Maxx remote start out, has a remote fob to starter it, but hard to find now.

Cool, Do you think it's possible to do it with a regular nitro car? There has to be away.
