After running T-Maxxes, brushed and brushless E-Maxxes, I opted to get into 4wd Slashes. I tried the 2wd and wasn't thrilled, but I also had a 4wd, which I fell in love with. I'm upgrading for reliability and make it a fun truck. I picked another 4wd roller and body on CL yesterday for $75 and spent the afternoon yesterday rebuilding it, the difs, beaings, adding a 3500 Velinion system, etc.
I moved this body and wheels over to my 4wd and sold the 2wd. 4wd has steel shafts, big bores, sway bars, castle, etc, that I've added over the last few months.
Here's the truck I build yesterday. I still need a pinion for it, but will be great for kids to drive. 2S, plain jane beater

.
I've raced 2wd short course before and they seem to be soft. 4wd sc is always the best way to go. 4wd tends to have more traction than 2wd sc.
Thanks, I love the four tires shredding for traction lol. I was thinking of trying a center dif in the buggy, to cut down on 3S wheelies, But I'm not sure on that one. Any thoughts?
I have 2 4wd slashes. I know on 3S, the dune buggy is a handfull as far as wheelies. The other I haven't driven yet, but with SC tires, it will probably be even worse with tall gears and high COG.

With the tall gears and high COG, it will probably have less traction.

Actually yes, I put one on the 2wd before I sold it. Ran it one time and it made a huge difference in tipping and rolling. I have been thinking about doing to the 4wd dune buggy. I did install sway bars on it the other day. I'm still tinkering with the suspension, shocks and sway bars to get the feel right. I need to fill the rear shocks with thinner oil, their a little too thick right now, currently 45W. I think it needs 30W or 35W to make it close, and I don't have any. One thing I has discovered is imo, the bigger the shock bore, the thinner the oil needs to be. I think because the piston is larger and pushes more fluid. I just installed cvd's on the 4wd buggy, it was eating shafts on 3S. It's still a work in progress lol.

Are traxxas sc good to race in the track? I've heard that they are the best bashing trucks. I want to get a brasher sc truck and was wondering if they are good to race?
I honestly think other brands may edge them out. I tend to stick with Traxxas since parts are near me and available, but anything I upgrade I get on Ebay. Associated makes a good one, as well as I think Losi. If you want to stick with Traxxas, I would suggest one someone else has already upgraded with RPM/ MIP or Proline components. Depending on the level of the upgrade, a roller may run from $200 to $600. Avoid the "bling" all metal ones, heavy and the metal doesn't hold up. Though some parts are better in metal, C Hubs, axle carriers, axles, steering linkages. Look for ones that have alot of RPM upgrades, very durable.
Oh I haven't raced yet, except for light bashing and playing around. I do plan on visiting that Tulsa track right down the road, to see how well tuned the dune buggy is lol. Lol, I take that back, several decades ago, I used to race a Tamiya brushed Boomerang on the track.
Lol, sure looked like that one. It was the kids first rc car. My son who is now 30, was like 6 years old. It was heavy, not blazing fast, but durable as all get out lol.
